Academics

We offer a PhD in Applied Math and a Ph.D. minor in Applied Math.

The Center for Applied Mathematics at Cornell University offers a graduate program, leading to the Ph.D. degree that combines study and research opportunities under the direction of an internationally known faculty. The Ph.D. minor is meant to be offered to students who are enrolled in other graduate fields at Cornell.

Our Ph.D. program demands robust quantitative and analytical skills and is rigorous academically, demanding independent investigation and achievement, and characterizes original scholarly work of the highest caliber. CAM graduate faculty are drawn from 14 different departments, providing a wide range of opportinuty for creative and unique research. Our doctoral graduates are prepared for academic teaching and research positions and placement in the private sector. We do not admit master’s level students, though many of our Ph.D. students earn a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics while working toward their Ph.D.

The deadline for applying to the program for fall admission is January 7. We do not accept applications for spring admission.
