Get Involved
Whether you are looking to engage with fellow alumni, connect with current students or volunteer, there are many ways for alumni to get involved in CAM.
Consider describing your accomplishments for a featured alumni profile to help highlight the broad spectrum of career possibilities CAM offers current and potential students. If you work in academia, encourage your best undergraduate or Master's students to apply to CAM, and if you're employed in industry or by a lab, please forward job and internship opportunities to us.
Stay in touch via the LinkedIn "Center for Applied Mathematics Group." In order to join, please connect via LinkedIn with Erika Fowler-Decatur, CAM Administrator. She will then send you an invitation to join the group, which is open only to current students and alumni of CAM.
Do you miss Ithaca? Inquire about returning to campus to participate in an alumni panel discussion to offer career advice to current students or nominate yourself (or other alumni) to speak in the Notable Alumni Lecture Series (past speakers include Alan Hastings '77 (2015), Robert Vanderbei '79 (2016) and Mason Porter '02 (2017)).
Finally, we're interested in establishing a CAM Alumni Prize for current students and envision a monetary award to recognize the best dissertations, partial summer funding for students who show promise in research, and/or a means of rewarding students who contribute the most to the CAM community. We'd like to enlist the help of a rotating group of alumni to make these decisions, with nominations coming from faculty and/or current students.
Regardless of how you choose to get involved, we look forward to staying in touch for years to come! For more information about any of the above options or to update your contact and/or employment info, please email Erika Fowler-Decatur.
